The bodhi tree is an old sacred tree that is native in india. Also known as ficus religiosa because the original is an old and sacred tree that is located in Bodh Gaya in India. The bodhi tree has heart shaped leaves and a very particular trunk shape. The most famous budist teacher Siddhartha Gautama used to sit under the bodhi tree and was able to achive enlightement under it.
It can also be made into a very atypical bonsai tree.
A day named after it also exists the Bodhi day which is celebrated on December 8 from all Buddhists. Whether full size or the small bonsai version you can cultivate a ficus religiosa. There are several ways to grow a bodhi tree - ficus religiosa, it can be grown from seedlings, saplins or grown from seed as well.
